Surgical planning

The surgical planning is the preoperative method of pre-visualizing a surgical intervention, in order to predefine  the surgical  steps . Surgeons rely on  images , like MRI. In neurosurgery, the direct visualization of intracranial pathology  is of immeasurable value for presurgical diagnosis and localization.
Within the open MRI, presurgical data can be used for planning trajectories and approaches. In neuro oncology, one of the principal surgical goals is to minimize neurological deficits and to maximize resection of the lesion. In order to achieve this goal, eloquent brain areas must be identified. Therefore a good imaging has a direct effect on treatment.
